Family Law
Divorce, Custody, Child Support, Community Property

Since the beginning of my practice I have helped a multitude of people in their journey navigating the rather complex laws regarding divorce, child custody, community property, and all of the other incidental matters related to the area of law commonly referred to as “family law.”  I have recognized that most of the time when people go through a divorce or a child custody and visitation matter, it is usually not a pleasant thing for them. I will always be sensitive to you the stressful situation that my clients endure during these times. I will stand with you to support you through this journey by providing excellent legal counsel and striving for the correct result in our courts of law.  I have maintained harmonious relationships with the various courts in our area and have strived to present my clients cases in the best way possible. Knowing the different idiosyncrasies of the various judges is a must to be able to properly represent my clients.

When it comes time to deal with the ommunity property issues, my background in business and accounting and my decades of experience will certainly help you with achieving a fair result. When people are married and acquire property and incur debt, these assets and liabilities usually become the joint property and joint obligations of both of the married persons.  It can be very difficult to calculate the value of assets and the balances of liabilities to be able to equally divide these items between the parties. Louisiana law has many exceptions to general rules and has many complicated procedural laws which strictly govern community property partitions. It is important that you have an attorney that understands these complex laws and can present the best case to the courts for a fair result.

Business Advice, Transactions and Litigation

I started operating my own business when I was nine years old by delivering newspapers. I did not get a salary and was not paid by the hour. I was challenged to sell subscriptions to the newspaper, collect the subscription dues from the customers, and pay for the stacks of newspapers that I received every day, hopefully turning a profit.  For five years I had a really good dose of what it takes to make a business operate from a very young age.  I have been operating businesses ever since that time. As an attorney, I have been able to help many businesses with multiple problems.  If a businesses sued, it is very important to retain an attorney that understands the workings of a business and the complex nature of business litigation. Utilizing my vast experiences in many different areas of the workforce, my college education in business and accounting and my years of experience in the practice of law, I can provide great insight and assistance for business needs.

From properly setting up a Corporation or Limited Liability Company (LLC), to settling business disputes, to representing businesses in litigation, I will use my experience in education to help you through these things.
